Our Background

A decade inside the funeral sector — then a quiet decision to build something better.

Ditshaba Funerals & Tombstones was founded by Ally Karhim, a highly experienced financial and operational professional who dedicated many years of service to the underwriting business for Old Mutual. During his corporate tenure, his main obligation was to oversee and enforce best industry practices within the funeral sector — managing strict compliance issues, financial structuring, and providing operational support for emerging service providers.

Armed with more than a decade of this high-level corporate expertise, Ally realised that local families desperately needed a funeral provider that didn't just understand logistics, but deeply understood institutional compliance and spiritual respect.

To merge regulatory excellence with heartfelt dignity, he established Ditshaba.

Our Extended Philosophy

The full meaning of Ditshaba.

A strict dual mandate

At the heart of our operations is our name. Ditshaba translates directly to Nations. For our business, this name dictates a strict dual mandate:

First — The Unifying of Nations. Grief knows no geographic boundaries, tribal divisions, or social standing. When a family experiences loss, it is a human event. Ditshaba stands as a stabilising, unifying force, gathering communities together and guaranteeing that every family receives a stellar, transparent standard of care.

Second — The Sacred Return. We recognise that our time on earth is a temporary journey. When that journey ends, it marks the time for a beautiful return to the soil and a return back to the Creator. Because we view this transition as sacred, we make sure that our mortuary cold storage, our coffin options, and our tombstone designs are treated as instruments of high honour for a soul returning home.

Our Core Values

Three quiet principles that govern every service we provide.

i.

Dignity

Treating every deceased individual with absolute, uncompromising sanctity — from the first phone call to the final stone.

ii.

Compliance

Keeping financial underwriting and policies perfectly transparent and legally airtight, anchored in real industry experience.

iii.

Inclusivity

Honouring all nations, backgrounds, and specific religious requirements seamlessly — without compromise or hesitation.
